Obey

Obey was founded in 2001 by artist Shepard Fairey as an extention of his artwork and putting his images and slogans on to clothing to spread the message and images on t-shirts seemed a natural progression.

Drawing his inspiration from propaganda, political messaging and commercial advertising Obey grew in popularity with the punk rock and skate communities, and soon after to wider audiences through his album art for bands and most notably his portrait of Barak Obama, and has come a long way from what originally started off as just a sticker he made at the Rhode Island School of Art and Design. But even today Shepards inspiration and core values are still the same today, thinking about your environment and questioning the purpose.
