If you didn't already know, Nike SB have teamed up with the Japanese mega mech-robot franchise Gundam for the latest of their high profile and eagerly awaited Dunk collaborations. The Tokyo, Japan based anime brand was created by Yoshiyuki Tomino in the late 1970's and redefined anime culture with the military fiction world and it's media franchise, not to mention his work on toy design that has shaped collector culture to this day.
Inspiration for this epic collabobration came from the Mobile Suit Gundam Uniform novel and series, looking to 02 Banshee and RX-0 Unicorn in particular to base the two Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High shoes silhouettes on. The Dunk High 02 Banshee shoe itself is packed with one-off features, such as mecha-like toebox, collar and removeable velcro side Swoosh that gives the shoe a hi-tech robotic look and feel.
The colour palette see's a mix of muted hues and metalics sat besides flashes of bright orange colour, contrasting with the metalic black and blue-grey base of the Dunk High. Other features include a sheet of one-off Gandam x Nike SB decals, a second lace option and redesigned removeable side Swooshes that reference Gundam's V-Fin antennas. This drop going to be recieving a ton of heat, so if you want to stand a chance of getting your hands on a pair then be sure to follow Bored of Southsea social media channels closely over the next few days for dates and details of the raffle draw.
