Just a few years ago, if you'd said that Polo Ralph Lauren collaborating with a skate company, it would have left skaters and streetwear heads astounded. Then in 2018, to the surprise of everyone, the iconic American fashion brand joined forces with Palace Skateboards. Fast forward five years, and Polo is back with another surprise partnership, this time teaming up with the well-established skate brand, Element.
The collection is a comprehensive offering for the upcoming fall season, featuring plaid shirts, chino pants, polos, sweatshirts, graphic tees, caps, and even hard goods like wheels and skate decks. Throughout, the clothing and accessories showcase a rich, earthy colour palette, including browns, greens, and beiges that perfectly align with the autumn aesthetic. Stand-out pieces for us include the cotton unisex Polo x Element Whitman Chino Pants, which have been updated with deeper pockets, including one at the right thigh, and a shoelace drawstring at the waist. At the back, they are finished with the collection’s exclusive co-branded logo label. Made from a sturdy 100% cotton twill fabric, built in the workwear tradition, with skateboarding in mind like a built-in shoelace belt, deep pockets, and a wider relaxed fit. Its muted tone is then rounded out by the subtle branding of the collar's exclusive label on the back pocket.
Another favourite here being the Polo x Element Fleece Hoodie in Natural, because a skate apparel collection is not complete without a cotton fleece hoodie. But for the Element and Polo Ralph Lauren collection, it had to be special. Its 100% cotton material has been coloured with plant-derived dyes that have been sourced from nature, not a lab. What sets it apart is our commitment to sustainability, as it's garment-dyed using natural ingredients derived from plants, roots, and vegetables, reducing our reliance on synthetic dyes.
The collaboration between Element and Polo Ralph Lauren draws inspiration from their respective heritages and roots, resulting in a collection of timeless, robust apparel that seamlessly blends country-inspired aesthetics with skate-focused designs. Crafted in the style of a vintage big-fit tee, this 100% cotton crewneck offers both comfort and style. Adorned with the collection's exclusive logo on both sides, it stands out as a testament to our commitment to eco-friendly practices – the colours are derived from nature, not a laboratory. Just the way we prefer it.
And if that's not enough, to mark this unique partnership, Ralph Lauren and Element invited 13 young skaters to Seek Skate Camp in the picturesque foothills of Mount Hood, located just an hour outside of Portland, Oregon. Over a week, these individuals immersed themselves in nature, delved into the art of vegetable dyeing, and even participated in a film photography workshop led by the legendary Joe Brook, a photographer with over two decades of experience collaborating with Thrasher Magazine. The objective was to immerse these skaters in the beauty of nature, foster new connections, and ignite fresh creativity both on and off the skateboard. This collaboration goes far beyond the ordinary, so don't miss your chance to be part of it.
