Southsea Bronx™

Southsea Bronx Strong Island has been a store t-shirt since around 2002 and was designed by Southsea local Bruce “Jubru” Jamieson. Now a senior designer for the design powerhouse I Love Dust, it was first conceived whilst Bruce at college as a tongue in cheek play on words from the Boogie Down Productions song South Bronx. The song was regularly played at hip-hop nights where they would drop the fader for the crowd to sing along ‘Southsea Bronx” along to the tune.

We have sold countless numbers of the design in as many colours and on as many things as we could think of, even stopping making it for a while before it had to be brought back due to demand. Southsea Bronx Strong Island has been an unofficial mascot for the town for many years now, and has also sponsored various club nights, bands, dj’s (Concrete Music, Gentle Bren) and boxers (Biola Kudis and Joel McIntyre). The design is regularly spotted on the other side of the globe and we’re very proud that so many have seen fit to rep it, whether they are from the city, just passing through or simply just like the smiling friendly sunshine design.
